The UK has crowned the boys of McFly with seven #1 singles in the last six years, and the boys have deserved each accolade. The US has only let them play background actors alongside Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine — remember “Just My Luck?” Anyone? Anyone?
Well today marks the day McFly begins their aggressive American assault and I’m happy to let them surmount me. You know … musically.
More specifically, their new single “Party Girl ” (co-written with R&B songwriter/producer Dallas Austin) is sure to pound the walls off every tween bedroom from here to Texarkana.
Another collaboration on their upcoming album “Super City” is with the pop chart’s new king Taio Cruz. His latest single “Dynamite” was crafted by Dr. Luke, the same brains behind Ke$ha’s “Your Love is my Drug” and Katy Perry’s “California Gurls.” Basically a power-house of talent is ready to push these Brits deep down into our Yankee ear-drums until we succumb to their blimey ways.
Take a listen to the new track “Party Girl” below, which is out September 1.

]]>The build-up to the launch of McFly’s new sound has been one of the most exciting (and nerve-wracking) events of this year’s music calendar - but we’re here to tell you that it has all been worth the wait. Yesterday heatworld’s Deputy Editor Isabelle Broom met up with (a very buff, we must say) Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry to listen to four tracks from their new album and take a look at their revolutionary new website.
McFly initially went over to Australia to begin work on their fifth studio album, but after laying down 10 tracks they all realised what they’d achieved wasn’t quite enough. With ambitions to become the biggest band on the planet, McFly knew that what they needed to do was try something more challenging - and that’s where Dallas Austin and Taio Cruz came in. Having worked with the likes of Kylie, Pink, Madonna and Britney Spears, producer Dallas was a bit of a daunting prospect for the lads - but they needn’t have worried. Dallas fell for McFly immediately and was impressed by both their talent, dedication…and ability to stay out drinking for 22 hours with jet-lag! The result of working both with Dallas and music-magic-wand waving Taio Cruz is some of the most sophisticated and exquisite material the boys have ever produced. Yes, it’s a little bit different from the usual guitars and shouty choruses, but that unique McFly magic is still at the core of everything we heard. First single Party Girl (which you can listen to below) is bold, catchy and gets better on every listen while the two Taio tracks Shine A Light andNowhere Left To Run take the old McFly to a whole new level. Smoochy slow song I’ll Be Your Man is packed full of the touching lyrics us female McFly fans love, but it all feels a bit more grown up somehow. The boys should feel proud, because this new album is an utter triumph and credit to all their hard work.
As well as producing an ear-blasting new album and spending at least 100 hours a week in the gym (probably), McFly have also designed a Fansite unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. Super City is a 3D virtual world where fans can interact directly with the band, upload photos and videos, view exclusive content, play games and earn points to exchange for money-can’t-buy prizes such as priority entry to gigs, signed merchandise and even phone calls from the boys themselves. Never before has a band listened to and acted upon the wishes of their fans to such an amazing level - and all their dedication is about to be paid back tenfold.
McFly fans should be piddling themselves with excitement, while those of you who aren’t quite on board yet should open your ears and your minds because - trust us - McFly are currently the best they’ve EVER been.
Last night we were lucky enough to hang out with those gorgeous McFly boys at a posh London hotel. Oh it was in the penthouse too, did we mention that?!
Tom, Harry, Danny and Dougie invited us to the hotel to share with us some exciting new news and material. After being greeted with a kiss and a hug from each (we kid thee not), it was down to the serious task of listening to the new tunes.
If you’re fans of McFly you’ll be excited to hear that the boys have gone in search of ‘the new sound’ and you won’t be disappointed! Our favourite song was Party Girl which will be their first single and it’s a proper banger and not like the McFly of old.
What else have they got going on? Well a brand new super site, a website like you’ve never seen before which allows you into each of their ‘bedrooms’ (we had a poke around all of them with Dougie’s help) and also allows you to earn points which equate to amazing real life opportunities with the band.
Like what, we hear you ask? Well, everything from recording a song with the boys to watching them soundcheck. SCREAM!
If you’re not excited enough already, we can confirm that the boys were also looking super FIT, with tans and a whole new rockin’ wardrobe. Yum.
We’ll keep you updated with all new McFly news and will let you know when we catch up with them again soon…
]]>A new look, brand new songs and a new website coming soon!
We were lucky enough to be invited to a penthouse suite in a rather expensive London hotel yesterday. Before you think that some sleazy footballer tried to bribe us with strawberries and a diet Coke, let us tell you that it was none other than McFly. Here’s what happened…
The lads sat us down and told us how the new album (out sometime in November) was created with the help of American producer called Dallas Austin and Taio Cruz. Dallas has worked with musicians like Michael Jackson, Gwen Stefani and Madonna.
Then the boys played us 4 tracks from their new album. You’re not going to believe this but it sounds nothing like McFly. It’s like a brand new band with some amazing new songs. They might as well go for a new name like Razorbright or Fall Out Toy or something like that.
And here are some amazing facts from the amazing day we spent with the lads. Want us to say amazing again? Amazing.
Oh, and the band are launching a new website which looks so amazing, it’s going to make you feel like you’re in contact with McFly 24/7. Not sure how much we can say about it but it continues the superhero theme and each of the symbols below represent a member of McFly.

More as we get it but in the meantime we’d like your thoughts please!
]]>Last night EF was invited to spend a couple of hours with McFly as the band gears up for the release of their brand new album. Arriving at a top secret location late yesterday afternoon, we took our place in the intimate setting to find our about the band’s new album, their new sound and their exciting new ‘super site’.
Openly mingling with the small audience, the McFly boys turned on the charm as they greeted us. Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry (who’s clearly been working out – check out those guns!) looked great and took their places as they readied to talk about their new sound along with manager Fletch.
What followed was an interesting explanation of the band’s decision to reunite with former label Universal Record and the reason why they felt they had to change their sound. Fletch explained the band recorded an album’s worth of material whilst in Australia but on their return home decided that the sound didn’t push the band as much as it should. This sparked the band to push their creative boundaries and they soon flew off to the US to work with uber-producer Dallas Austin, responsible for big hits by TLC, Pink and Mariah Carey to name a few. Fletch handed over to the band and Tom took over recounting their first experiences with Dallas. Describing Dallas’ hardcore approach to working Tom recalled the band being initially surprised as they were working in ways they weren’t used to.
The band seemed genuinely excited about the next phase in their hugely successful careers and talked passionately about the project. As well as talking about their experiences with Dallas, the boys also talked about working with Taio Cruz to pen some additional tracks to be included on the record. They also discussed the super-hero theme their new artwork has adopted to tie-in with their new sound and look.
Throughout the band speaking there were video clips and previews of new tracks from the album. New single Party Girl was the first track we heard and it sounds quite unlike anything McFly has done before. With heavier beats and R&B/electro-rhythms the track is a million miles away from the band’s previous releases. Other tracks previewed were the Prince-esque I’ll Be Your Man and two Taio Cruz penned tracks Shine A Light (the album’s second single) and Nowhere Left To Run (a rough cut still to be mixed properly). Each of the songs sounded completely different to what we’ve heard from McFly before and could see the band picking up an older audience. We were genuinely impressed by the band’s new direction and can safely say we’re excited to see how the fans respond.
The last part of our time with the band consisted of being shown the new McFly ‘super site’. Still in development, the website is a high-tech, visually stunning and highly interactive offering that fans will be blown away by. The site will offer some free content alongside a subscription service allowing fans to get closer to the band than ever before. Subscribers will get the opportunity to win points that they can trade in for exclusive McFly goodies and they will also get access to exclusive content directly from the band. We’ll be bringing you more information on the website in the coming weeks.

]]>ALL-night tequila benders, visits to strip clubs and boozy dinners at ELTON JOHN’s gaff have had a profound effect on McFLY.
They’ve ditched their trademark pop rock for a funkier R&B sound. And HARRY JUDD, TOM FLETCHER, DOUGIE POYNTER and DANNY JONES yesterday treated me to three tracks from their as-yet-untitled new album. They now sound more like PRINCE or MICHAEL JACKSON than McFly.
First single Party Girl is a slice of futuristic R&B. And two tracks written with TAIO CRUZ, Shine A Light and ballad I’ll Be Your Man, are decent too.
Axeman Danny told me: “Our influences have been people like BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and THE BEATLES, but this time we took inspiration from artists we’d never tapped into.”
Recording sessions in Atlanta were masterminded by R&B super-producer DALLAS AUSTIN.
Tom said: “Dallas introduced us to Patron tequila. He almost killed us on a couple of occasions - it’s lethal. He also really likes strip joints, so we’d hammer the tequila and then head off to these clubs.
“One night we ended up going round Elton John’s house in Atlanta for dinner with Dallas.
“It was a great time.”
NOT since Kylie went grunge has the music scene been shaken by such a dramatic change in direction.
But fans and haters of McFly prepare to be shocked.
Their cheesy pop has gone and heavy synths and sexy beats now dominate the four tracks played at an exclusive listening session in a swanky London hotel.
The lads teamed up with Madonna and Britney producer Dallas Austin for their first single Party Girl, released September 4.
The result is an immense dancefloor-filler laden with Lady GaGa Bad Romance-esque “Ooh-oohs”.
Taio Cruz has also worked his knob-twiddling magic on two tracks for their untitled fifth studio album.
Second single Shine A Light shows their sensitive side, singing over club beats: “She left me with a broken heart. She took the light and left me in the dark.”
While Nowhere Left To Run has scintillating synths layered over sharp beats.
A warm welcome back fellas.

NELS ISRAELSON has created posters for blockbusters such as X-Men and Spider-Man.
Now he’s turned his hand to music to help out the band.
Here are the lads looking moody in full-on superhero mode.
