It was the event that first gave them credibility and yesterday McFly again delighted fans at the start of two days of live music at the V festival.

The festival, which takes place at both Hylands Park, Chelmsford and at Staffordshire’s Weston Park, is headlined by the Killers and by Oasis, the Mancunian band’s first gig since it was revealed that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher refuse to talk to each other.

Lily Allen, Katy Perry, Pete Doherty, Snow Patrol and Lady Gaga are among the other acts. Many celebrities are expected to turn up for backstage VIP secret acoustic sets.
