Scarborough fans love McFly gig

Posted at June 28th, 2009 Under News

THOUSANDS of people of all ages ignored thick fog and drizzle to enjoy Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry otherwise known as McFly strut their stuff in Dalby Forest.

Although the clean cut heart throbs have broad appeal, teenage girls in the audience were clearly impressed.

Scalby School friends, Harriet Ritchie, Natalie Wright and Jess Bowman were among those dazzled by the boy band.

Harriet, 15, said: “They were phenomenal. It was a bit foggy but that just seemed to make the atmosphere special with all the lights from the show.

“They opened with One for the Radio – one of my favourites and they just got better and better.”

Natalie said: “I really enjoyed it. In fact I think it was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. My dad took us to Newcastle in November and they were good then but they were even better last night – even my dad thought they were good.

Jess said: “It was the first time I’d seen them and they were really good. It seemed to be really packed and I could hardly move at times because there was so many people.”

Also among the crowd said to number about 4,500 were 12-year-old Cloughton girls Alexandra Asquith and Hester Haslett-Venus, both of Scalby School. Alexandra, whose favourite track was One for the Radio, said: “I think the concert was very lively and the band communicated well with the audience. There were also tributes at the concert to Michael Jackson.”

Friend Hester described the band’s performance as “wacky and wild”.
